Places to Explore

Places to explore:

Consumed by wanderlust, these posts are a collection of my journey through life, the things experienced, places explored, spaces enveloped and senses heightened.

8th August 2010 - Port of Oswego

I've been sitting on this for quite some time and I just wasn't sure how or what I was going to write about. Oswego, wasn't really meant for me. Unlike Patrick*, I never really had any emotional attachment to the town. As a passer-by, I think it's all right, similar to other industrial town that profited from it's trade but there just wasn't anything to shout about. The city has a really nice port, but it seemed underutilized. Bear in mind, our visit was in 2010 and from a quick search on the Internet, it seems like Oswego has seen improvement over the years and the state is giving funds to revitalize its downtown just recently. Apart for some old abandoned warehouses, few shops and restaurants, we did at that time found a quaint little coffee shop - The Coffee Connection somewhere downtown.

Looking back, the beginning of our journey may not seem like much. I think we were just happy to have each other's company and the sights and attractions were just supporting cast, framing the background we traveled. Having said that, Taughannock Falls was a sight to behold!

There are some pretty amazing trails within the Taughannock Falls State Park. But due to time constraint, we didn't really had the chance to explore the region. I bet the foliage and views would be amazing in the fall.
